ABTA proudly started its 2014-2015 season with its 5th annual lunch on 15 November 2014, gathering several academics and researchers from around the UK. The lunch successfully strengthened the connections and motivated attendees for the new academic year which is expected to bring out several activities, including seminars, workshops, and competitions. ABTA Annual Lunch began at 1.30 pm on Saturday, in Ev Restaurant, London, with an opening reception. Over 50 academics and 20 postgraduate research students from various universities and disciplines honored the event. As a board member Dr. Bilal Gokpinar gave an introduction speech and called for a brief self-introduction speech. The event has continued with a video show of the activities of ABTA from ABTA Doctoral Research Awards to ABTA talks and ABTA Annual Lunches being carried out in the last four years.
Guests were served marvelous dishes from Turkish cuisine. Meanwhile, they enjoyed an impressive live music recital.
Icebreaker quiz has been done to promote the interaction and sharing between the participants and they were grouped randomly while they were having their desserts. Quiz consists of different questions related to science, history, arts, and culture which were expected to be interesting to all academics from different fields. Quiz champions awarded tickets for London Philharmonic Orchestra concert of Stravinsky and Verdi's Requiem at Royal Festival Hall. Participants had the chance to talk with their colleagues and to extend their network by meeting new participants, while having lunch till 4.00 pm.
